What is the MKE 2024 Host Committee?

The MKE 2024 Host Committee is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization whose mission is as follows:

  • To work on behalf of the City of Milwaukee, its businesses and residents to ensure that the 2024 Republican National Convention has all the tools it needs to be successful.
  • To drive a lasting social and economic impact across the greater Milwaukee area and the State of Wisconsin while delivering a best-in-class experience for the 45,000-plus anticipated attendees.

The Committee also serves as a liaison between the Republican National Committee, the City of Milwaukee, the State of Wisconsin and its businesses to harness opportunities for long-term benefit.

Daily, the Committee will work in partnership with the City of Milwaukee, the Republican National Committee and local & national stakeholders to create a positive experience for all attendees.

Who serves on the MKE 2024 Host Committee?

The Host Committee is composed of dedicated community leaders from across Greater Milwaukee. They represent a wide array of backgrounds and political beliefs – united by the purpose of showcasing Milwaukee as a world-class city and destination.

How is the Host Committee different from the Republican National Committee?

The Host Committee is a nonpartisan entity created to work with the City of Milwaukee in preparing for and successfully producing the Republican National Committee (RNC) convention. As part of its responsibilities, the Committee is responsible for signing the contracts, securing the venues and working with the local leaders to ensure the convention has everything it needs to succeed in its “host” city, Milwaukee. The RNC is a separate partisan organization that will direct and operate the convention for the purpose of nominating the Republican party nominee for President of the United States.

When is the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee? How long will it last? Where will the convention be held?

The convention will take place from July 15-18, 2024. Tens of thousands of convention delegates, volunteers and members of the media will travel to Milwaukee for the convention from around the world. Many guests will choose to come early and stay late so that they can experience everything Milwaukee has to offer.

What happens at a national political convention?

At a national political convention, a political party’s primary function is to officially nominate that party’s candidate for President and Vice President. The party also makes key decisions about the party’s political “platform,” a document outlining various beliefs and policy positions. The Host Committee is not involved in these kinds of partisan activities – the Committee is only involved in ensuring Milwaukee is a strong venue for this national event.

Who can attend the convention?

Delegates and alternate delegates selected and appointed by each and every state and territory in America can attend the convention.

They will be selected by Republican party processes in each state and territory to attend the convention in an official capacity. Various opportunities will exist for volunteers who may also be able to attend while working.

How many people will be in Milwaukee to attend the convention?

Some estimates show that more than 50,000 attendees could be in Milwaukee for the convention, with an impact stretching throughout Southeastern Wisconsin.
